Active Components That Provide Anti-Cough Effects
The key component in Dr. Theiss Plantain Syrup is the alcohol-based extract of ribwort plantain, a traditional herbal medicine widely recognized for its antibacterial, wound-healing, anti-inflammatory, and antitussive effects.
The leaves of ribwort plantain contain high amounts of mucilage polysaccharides that cover an irritated mucous membrane with a thin film and shield nerve endings that trigger the urge to cough when they are irritated. Besides, the extract possesses spasmolytic qualities and helps relax smooth muscle tissue in the respiratory tract. Due to its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory action, the extract of plantain prevents microbial growth in the throat.
Use Directions and Safety
Dr. Theiss anti-cough syrup is used orally. The dosage is:
- 15 ml per serving for adults and children over 12
- 5 ml for children from 6 to 12 years old
- 2.5 ml for children from 2 to 6 years old
Please use a measuring glass for proper dosing. The preparation use frequency is 5-7 times a day, with intervals of 2-3 hours between doses. The duration of treatment is selected by a doctor but shouldn’t exceed 5-7 days in a row.
Safety Measures
- Do not use it for children younger than 2 years old.
- Do not use medications that inhibit expectancy.
- The product can cause allergies to its components.
