Seasonal illnesses are regular and frustrating. Every year, pandemics of various types of influenza occur, and they can affect everyone. Proper prevention is what everyone should practice before the start of the seasonal illness period, and Oxoline Ointment is a first-line OTC medication for these practices.
Oxoline Ointment is a famous Eastern European first-aid skin ointment for the prevention of viral infections carried by airborne droplets. It is a dense ointment that covers the mucous membranes of nasal passages and blocks viral contamination. Easy to use, safe, and effective, this topical medication has fewer contraindications and provides fewer side effects, which makes it a must-have in your first-aid kit.
Key Oxoline Ointment Benefits
- Can be used for viral rhinitis treatment and as a preventive agent during seasonal pandemics.
- Effectively blocks the binding sites of the influenza virus to the surface of cell membranes.
- Safe for everyday use.
- A product of Ukraine.
Active Components for Fast Relief
The main agent of the Oxoline Ointment is oxoline (dioxotetrahydroxytetrahydronaphthalene), the compound that blocks viruses when they bind to cell membranes in the nasal passages. Respiratory viruses are typically carried by airborne droplets and can easily enter the nasal ducts when you contact an infected person. Oxoline Ointment protects the nasal passages’ mucous membranes from these droplets and disrupts possible binding.
Use Directions and Safety
The ointment is designed for intranasal application. For viral rhinitis treatment, apply the ointment with a Q-tip on the nasal ducts’ surface 2-3 times a day for 3-4 days. For individual flu prevention during the pandemic, daily lubrication of the nasal ducts’ surface is recommended two times a day – in the morning and in the evening.
Safety Measures
- Do not apply to the eye mucosa
- The ointment can cause a temporary feeling of burning when applied
- Do not use in the case of hypersensitivity to its components
- Use decongestants with caution, because of possible dehydration of nasal mucosa.
